Wonderful Hosts

Stefan S 9 January 2015
We stayes 3 nights at the Barandas Ldge - and they were in our top-3-list of Iran experiences. Houssein and his family were wonderful, warm-hearted hosts. They were also of great help organizing activities, drivers, bus tickets, etc. The accomodation is cozy and clean, the food is fantastic (home-made bread! date cake!). And the sand dunes are just a 5 minute long walk away. Very highly recommended. Jannika & Stefan

It’s on my list for a return visit!

I had the good fortune to experience the hospitality of Barandaz Lodge in October, though I didn't sleep there I enjoyed a wonderful lunch and 2 dinners. I did a 2 night desert camping trek with them and it was a real highlight of my trip. All of the equipment, staff and food was supplied by Barandaz.
Had a good look round- the rooms are very clean as are the bathrooms.
I agree about the tea- it's refreshing- I wish I had brought some home with me.
Highly recommended.

Peaceful place

Morteza56Oslo, Norway 27 December 2014
We stayed at Barandaz lodge 1-4 December 2014. This is probably the best place to stay in Farahzad / Mesr (we had a look at four other guesthouses before choosing Barandaz). The host family is very helpful and friendly, you can feel that they care for their place which has been family property for generations.

Our room was well cleaned. The food was delicious and made from local products. On request, we were served camel milk - and Hossein and his family even made lakhooli - which is a meat soup cooked in a well covered pot buried under fire and ashes for hours and hours. That was the best soup we have ever eaten!

We went camel riding and for a jeep safari - both were great fun and well organised.

Your hosts will serve you tea flavoured with local wild thyme, We suggest that you buy this wild thyme ("avishan") from the guest house shop: it's a wonderful souvenir to bring home. We can still see the beautiful sand dunes of Farahzad when we are drinking our morning thyme tea here at home in Norway.

A memorable stay in a desert location Barandaz Lodge

Icka67London 24 November 2014
A perfect oasis in the desert!
Our stay started with a very warm welcome from Houssain, the owner, serving my husband and I a delicious tea after a very long drive from Naein.

Our traditional room in the single-storey building was spotlessly clean complete with carpets under foot, comfortable traditional bedding and. electricity. Houssain personally took us on a short walk around the oasis, including up on to the roof via a staircase to get our first view of the undulating sand dunes highlighted by the sunset .

The food was delicious and meal times were shared by all the guests together,

Next day we were taken out on safari in a 4X4 by 'Uncle' to experience the magnificent vastness of the desert including roaming camels at a water hole and huge areas of seashells in the sand, indicating former sea beds. all enhanced by walking bare foot in the soft warm sands and relaxing over a cup of wild Thyme tea prepared over a brushwood fire by 'Uncle' as we rested in the shade of a convenient bush. It was magical.

Our 2nd day at the lodge was my birthday and a surprise party was organised Houssain and our tour guide Mohammad Akbari and ALL the other guests staying at the lodge joined in. A birthday cake with candles had been prepared and we danced and laughed a lot.
The personal touch and friendliness of the staff of the lodge was fantastic and we can whole heartedly recommend a stay! We truly hope that we will be able to return one day.

Un séjour inoubliable”

michtozaza 17 November 2014
